Hey everybody.

Has anyone encountered this before. These weird halos that seem not right. Or maybe they ARE rendering correctly, but just seem odd to me:

If you use PT or PMC kernel then seems to be caustics. :)

But there are no refractive objects in the scene.

Hi treddie,
what about the specular value of the glossy material?
I suspect that the rounding is causing the effect of caustics at borders

Could be wrong vertex normals smoothing. You can fix this by adding it manually under "Object Smoothing".
Don't check "Load vertex normals". Set "Max Smoothing Angle" to 80 or lower and then load the object again and see if it hasn't fixed the problem.

Ok.

But... "In optics, a caustic or caustic network is the envelope of light rays reflected or refracted by a curved surface or object, or the projection of that envelope of rays on another surface." - see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caustic_(optics) about "caustics" :)
