Hi,

since some days I´m trying to get the demo version of Octane for 3ds max working on my Windows PC as you request and suggest to ensure
compatibility. I´ve tried many different combinations, because your website does not clearly suggest which version works as demo. You don´t
even provide a plugin demo for max 2015, even though this version is almost on the market for a year.

Nevertheless, I was about to buy the upgrade to version 2.0 and the 3ds max plugin, but I´m reluctant because nothing works in 3ds max.
The version 2.x standalone and the 1.54 standalone work on my system, but none of the 3ds max plugins (1.20) work in any of the max
versions I have installed (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 --> no plugin available). I´m not sure what´s going wrong, but if you want to get more
customers I think you should make things work.

It´s ok not to provide an installer, although for a renderer of this kind with a professional approach, an installer should be included. But
not providing plugin versions for max 2015 and not providing working versions for the demo is a no-go I think.

Sorry for the rant, but as a loyal customer I expect better service than this.

Or am I the only one with this problem / frustration ?

Best regards,
Martin

Aah, btw. forgot the non-working link: http://render.otoy.com/downloads.html

Well, no words ... a dead link on the front page (of the 3ds max page)

Ok, my apologies for the rant. I´ve now bought the 2.x upgrade and the 3ds max plugin and luckily it works fine so far. I just wasn´t sure and didn´t want to spend 300 Euros on something that doesn´t work.

In any way, I think it would make sense to update the demo versions.

Best,
Martin

Hi Paul,

thanks, I know. I was just surprised that the link didn´t work, no demos for max 2015 are available and the demos are outdated (they are based on version 1.20 and not the newest 2.x). So I coudn´t test the demo in max 2015, I couldn´t test the newest version and none of the versions for max 2012, 2013, 2014 worked for me. I was very skeptical if this product would really work. Luckily it does now after I purchased the upgrade and 3ds max plugin.

I think most of the demos or plugins should be updated, even as trial. I was trying to use the blender version but it's only the 2.72 modified version. I have a GTX 750 and it's only working with 2.73.
Could you please update the demos and not just make them available for your customers ? The idea here is to test Octane Render, why not give us the last updated demo version ? :|

Thanks for your attention :)
