Add OctaneRender 2021 MAC OS VERSION (Metal) please. As promised: with cross platform network render node.

THX

p.s. Octane X does not make any sense without this network render connectivity. As there are advantages on modelling/prerender on MacPro – nobody will do volume production render on multiple MacPros.

funk wrote:BUG: Hair material producing incorrect melanin colors with new color pipeline

Martimoo brought this up on discord.

1. Load the scene and render
2. Toggle kernel > "use old color pipeline" on and off to see the difference

With the old color pipeline, melanin becomes black at values close to 1. This is correct.

When the new color pipeline is used, melanin at 1.0 becomes yellow, which is incorrect

Thanks for the report, this will be fixed in the next build.

BUG/Regression? Hair material color renders differently to 2020.1.5

I know there have been some changes to the hair material, but this looks like a bug. Hair is rendering "whiter" than 2020.1.5 (it happens in 2020.2.4 too).

I dont have the best scene to show this off though.

Try this in 2020.1.5 and 2021.1

Martimoo also posted an orbx where the hair has lots of "white" areas in 2021.1.

The problem doesnt appear in 2020.1.5

Note: In this screenshot, 2021.1 has been set to "use old color pipeline" to avoid another bug.

funk wrote:BUG: Chaos texture histogram invariant blending changes color of texture

1. Load the scene
2. Right click the chaos texture > render
3. Toggle histogram invariant blending on and off

RESULT: When "histogram invariant blending" is enabled, the color is a lot lighter, which is incorrect

It's being worked on, but didn't quite make it into 2021.1 - we are on it.

Hey Team,

A conversation on discord reminded me of this issue I reported in 2020.1. 32 bit environment images are clamped.

Is there any chance we can look at fixing this in 2021.1?
