Hi all,

Since 2.26 reduced the PMC performance on pre-Pascal GPUs and PMC didn't run on Pascal GPUs at all, we had to switch back to CUDA 6.5 for pre-Pascal GPUs and enable PMC for Pascal GPUs.

Unfortunately using CUDA 6.5 + 8.0 for Pascal GPUs, crashes the PMC kernel, forcing us to use CUDA 7.5 + 8.0 for Pascal GPUs, which means that PMC runs a little bit slower on Pascal GPUs than on the corresponding Maxwell GPU. Since we don't have the resources to investigate this problem further, there isn't much we can do here about it.

There are no other changes compared to version 2.26.

Alright. So I can use both 780 and 1070 in the same machine but the 1070 will be a bit slower on PMC but pathtracing is unaffected?

so should pathtracing be slower as well? here are my results on a scene in standalone:

standalone, 2.26.1:
1080 gpu: pathtrace @ 4.71-ish Ms/sec
780 gpu: pathtrace @ 5.56-ish (periodic bouncing up to 6.0+) Ms/sec

standalone, 2.26.0:
1080 gpu: pathtrace @ 4.71-ish Ms/sec
780 gpu: pathtrace @ 5.56-ish (periodic bouncing up to 6.0+) Ms/sec

yeah, for me, i'm only seeing 15-20% increase in speed between a non Ti 780 and a 1080 FTW. I tested the two different versions to make sure it's not a version issue. Also, I checked the time to reach a set shading level and it too is only 15-20% difference.

Figured I'd go Old School here with V2...

Could you add Adaptive Sampling to the V2 for Mega Speed, that would be cool.

No, there won't be any further development on v2.
