Wow. These improvements are really really cool. Isn't the plugin a little bit faster??? no?

1) I too have the problem with the "smooth" function on some objects. It's like it messes the normals of the object

2) I tried to push the instancing as far as I can and it eventually crashes maya. I am not sure if it involves a too large number of instances or an error produced by "instancing an instance". I include 2 crashes .dmp

Cheers, I render almost everyday with Octane for maya and always get great results.

2.58P can export and render the polygon without UVS,but 3.0 can not:

// Warning: Octane: No CUDA devices choosen to render on. Rendering on the second one: GeForce GTX 580 (compute model 2.0) //
// Error: Octane: Error getting UV IDs of object: "pTorusShape1 (UV set "map1"): //
// Error: Octane: Error mesh export. Octane render stopped. //

hope fix it :D

Please use the stable 2.58p release for job. This is the unstable, test release.

I already fixed it, will be in next release.

I don't understand what you mean...

Yes, I think I've found the problem... Working on the next version...

Thanks, I will check it.

Well, I have two news, bad and good.

Bad: thanks to your dumps, I see that there is the little problem in Octane engine's mesh object evaluation thread-safety, which can lead to crash in rare cases (I had no these cases so far on my test scenes). So, I will be forced in the next version to disable these multithreaded calls to engine's mesh evaluation function so far...
Good: we have seen how fast it can work.;)
And given that the Octane engine team is very strong again with all the new and returned professionals, I don't think that it will take a long time to fix it or even make the native multithreaded evaluation inside the engine itself (it is a lot more effective than do it from outside by the means of plugins)...

Great news here :)
Just a note a about the display layers: object inside a display layer won't be part of the render.
Cheers
