Hydra Solaris Documentation

Hi there,

I've noticed that there is no dedicated documentation for Octane's Hydra Solaris plugin available in the support section. Given that the whole Solaris topic is quite complex, would it make sense to create one? Or maybe include a dedicated section inside the Houdini documentation? That'd be very helpful :)

I would like to see Solaris Documentation; how do I use the custom AOV inside the Octane VOP, also how do I access all the preset custom AOV ?

Hi Creative_Sheep,

Thank you for the post.
We plan to start our documentation as soon we are Octane feature complete.
Right now, Octane AOV output group(compositing AOV workflow) and Output (like OctaneROP) node are WIP.

Octane AOV product need to be added in Render settings>Standard>Ordered Products

Please find the sample file and let us know how it goes!

I have the Octane_AOV node and the Rendersettings node connected to my USD tree, and the render passes work :D I wasn't aware one needed a render settings, then again there is no documentation :D

I don't know how to use the custom and global tabs in the OctaneAOV; also there are three lighting tabs in the OctaneAOV :D all listing the same options !

The show octane window in the render settings, is excellent; there must be benefits to opening Octane standalone and what can be done in Standalone and brought back into Solaris ?

There is no information as how to use the Custom Tab and Global Tab ?

Hi Creative_sheep

Sorry, after assigning/enabling the Custom AOV in the Octane Material, please go to the Custom tab and enable the custom AOV enabled in the Material.
Then run Octane IPR and select the rendered AOVs from the Viewing Output Icon.

It looks like the Global texture still has the bug assigning the texture. We would fix it in the future releases

I understand this, although when I enable Custom 1 in the Custom Tab of the Octane AOV, there is four options. Therefore if I have checked Custom 1 and Visible After Reflections; what is the name of this new AOV if I understand correctly ?
