The Linux version of OctaneRender™ for Blender plugin, 64-bit.

The bundle consists from two parts:
1. OctaneRender™ Server
2. Blender - OctaneRender™ edition.

The first part (server) should be run on the same computer as the second one..
After the server is run - you can start rendering (or open a rendered view) from inside Blender. Before the very first rendering you should fill in the server address (only 127.0.0.1 at the time), login and password (your license key info) to activate the server. After the first rendering the server will remember this activation info, and you will not need to enter it again.

You should use only OctaneRender materials inside Blender scenes - the plugin knows nothing about Blender specific materials and textures (about any Blender nodes, generally speaking).

Thanks Jimstar, working well. I am having an issue with OpenSubDiv. When I enable it on an object (in this case just the simple cube) it makes the render start really slow. It will sit there with "Render-target evaluation on server..." displayed for 30 seconds or longer before the render will start. It depends on which level I set the subdiv to, by level 4 (on the simple cube) it's too slow to use. But when the evaluation is finished it's fast again. Is this how OpenSubDiv works? It doesn't seem right to be this slow for such a small number of polygons?

Also when you first turn on OpenSubDiv the viewport does not update unless you change the settings or move the view.

Hmm, more issues. :( I can't get a HDRI to work anymore. It's much harder to set it up now, as you have to create a texture to put in the texture slot for the environment. But even then it doesn't work and the image is not displayed.

Does anyone else have these problems?

Hi grimm, I have no problems with HDR lightning and iirc setup is same since first implementation.
I have problems to get displacement to work.

Cheers, mib

Thanks Mib your blend file helped, but I still don't remember having to setup a texture node to get it to work. It's ironic that I don't have any problems with displacement, I can add a blend for you if that would help?

Thanks, may you can check the second .blend.
Sometimes I get it to work but not every time with exact same settings, no idea why.

Hey Mib,

You needed to unwrap your ground plain before you can use an image to displace it. :)
