I dont know if anything can be done but why octane AO light looks so bad? I have gradient texture planes shining on VDBs and with pathtracing it looks great but with AO barely any color. VDBs look very flat with AO Thanks

Try adjusting AO distance.

Just for your information: We just updated the release builds for OSX and Linux since various people reported that Octane crashes during startup after the cuDNN library was downloaded. Please let us know if the problem persists even with this build.

Awesome, thanks Abstrax, this version fixes the Linux lockup issue for me!

Just a small issue I found now that the interface is opening. It's missing the main window control icons for minimizing, closing, and full screen.

frankmci wrote: Sure thing. The sample .orbx is very simple, single poly per face geometry. Edges made from lots of poly segments will definitely show specular artifacts when the rounding number is greater than, "just break the edge". Here's a shot of the kind of thing I use it for in real life: breaking the edges of small machine parts and such. It's definitely not perfect. For high res still images I'd still model in the tiny bevels/radii, but for animations, the material edge rounding is good enough. Unfortunately, I can't upload the source file for that, but it's the same basic setup.
Thanks for example, i see what you mean, basically it works OK-ish only with very small percentage of rounding like 0.01 - 0.02 and mostly on bright sides, on shadow areas it already visible that it's very fake/artifacts.
I've tried your scene and on 0.15 it's already breaking up visibly and on 0.25 it's ba don all areas so yes that's why my 10% (same as 0.1) didn't work good also. Has to be very small 1-2% to be anywhere usable but mostly from a distance.

Thanks for your time, i appreciate.

Hi Abstrax, thx so much for your help on the Vertex scene.

I have another finding involving subdivision-
I can replicate bringing different character FBX meshes into a scene, and whenever I try to apply subdivision on the FBX settings, to all meshes >0, Octane crashes.
(Octane closes spontaneously)
Known issue?

H it didn't do anything. It seems that with AO VDBs are very flat and light does not shine on them very well

Ok, i did more testing on this Edges Rounding and Octane is definitelly doing something wrong, it breaks on many areas and it's nowhere usable (CAD models are ones that need this most). I compred it to Modo rounding edge feature which works perfect on this model so it IS possible to make this work correct but it's still problematic and Buggy in Octane for some reason.

Can someone help on this? Should i send it somewhere as official BUG report or this is enough here ?

Thanks
