Hi guys,

I never used normal maps before from an artist point of view,
and to add support for them, i need some good working maps.

Can people provide some correct examples ?
(in both systems, eg Y+ and Z+ types) ?

You can post them either in 24bpp RGB png files,
or 48bpp or 96bpp RGB OpenEXR files.

Thanks,
Radiance

While I don't actually have any on me, I can point you to this one on CGtextures, http://www.cgtextures.com/texview.php?i ... 60b055702f

There are a fair few on there, though I don't know what the orientations of them are though...

Here, i made a few for you. 24 bpp RGB png files. Y and X axis are different on all of them, check the file names and file comments for axis alignment.

Send me a mail or pm if you need more examples.

I made this model awhile ago it contains a low poly mesh + textures + tangent space normal map + displacement map. The normal map was outputted from Mudbox using the Maya setting, it works in Modo renderer also. I know you don't need the displacement map..but you can use it for testing later on when u implement displacement map ;)

you can see a picture of the model in my website link.

edit: apparently there is no displacement map in this file, i'll update it with a displacement later.

seems to work well, i just need to add controls to tweak the amount.
here's the frog model rendered without and with normal maps.
both have diffuse and specular maps too.
