I decided to try Octane Power Tools; I have to say it works. Clearly it is a long way from being a fully integrated solution, but I'm sitting here watching 600 frames render a 10 seconds per frame with no intermediate loading. I'm very much looking forward to the fully-integrated Max version of Octane, right now my production pipeline is something of a headache (Max to Octane to After Effects to Flash) and any streamlining would be a good thing.

I have SSD in my system and I'll try to compare it a bit later (I bought license a few days ago and have no time at the moment to play with this checking, I must finish current work at first).
Not realy, I think...

Yes, you are right.
I've compared it: no difference. ~1M triangles scene, ~55 seconds to start render when exporting both to SSD and to HD... It seems that the bottleneck is a lot of computations to translate objects to/from plain text, not the file write/read speed...:(

Correct, the most time is spend by converting doubles/floats to strings/chars...

I made some Octane Icons for my 3dsMax main toolbar. If anyone wants to use them go ahead.
@KilaD if you find them usable you are welcome to add them to the script in your next update.

Best regards
Martin

Hi guys, here's a question for the exporter script material assignment (I am using KilaD's "official" exporter script). I can't get the material assignment to work properly: what I get after running the script (exporting the model) is the model with a single material. Inside 3ds Max, I am using Standard materials with unique names and diffuse colors. I've also assigned unique names to objects and also tried giving them different colors, since that seemed to work in a scene I did some time ago.

In short, I'm looking to get the material slots to Octane Render so that I can hook up the model with Octane Render materials. Currently I am only getting one material slot in Octane, in other words, just one material. I hope someone can clarify this basic issue for me - thanks and take care!
