Hi all,

We are excited to bring you OctaneRender 2026.4. Thanks again to all those who sent us feedback and continuously help us improve Octane.

This version includes a number of fixes as well as improved support for Gaussian splats and Neural Radiance Cache.

Image

Important notes:
  • The minimum NVIDIA driver version required is R555 (R572 for GeForce RTX50 series).
  • The minimum version of macOS required is 14.5.

Changes since 2026.3

New features
  • Added support for MacBook Neo
  • Added support for SPZv4 Gaussian splats
  • Added support for Neural Radiance Cache (NRC) on macOS (requires macOS 15+)
  • Added support for network rendering with NRC
  • Added support for importing UV vertex attribute names from FBX material data if no Octane material data is present; set UV set index if it is one of the Octane-specific UV names used for those
  • Added octane.json.tryDecode to the Lua API.
Improvements
  • Added prompt to select images if the source files are not found for tiles and UV tiles
  • Reduced GPU memory usage for Gaussian splats
  • Improved reproduction of complicated node graphs when importing FBX with embedded Octane OCS material data
  • Added ability to import from and export to FBX planar UV mapping type
Resolved issues
  • Fixed CUDA error when rendering huge Gaussian splats (30+ million primitives)
  • Fixed invalid attribute ID log message when selecting a new file for a texture file name input on an OSL node
  • Fixed network rendering with Vectron nodes
  • Fixed occasional crash when loading a scene with a lot of meshlets or virtual textures
  • Fixed an issue where USD geometry was not correctly connected with its material
  • Fixed bug in loading PLY files with spherical harmonics degree 4. Octane currently supports spherical harmonics up to degree 3
  • Fixed bug that extra spherical harmonics loaded from .PLY files could be incorrect
  • Fixed crash when rendering PMC kernel with small resolution (e.g. 1x1, 1x2)
  • Fixed incorrect loading progress values when loading large scenes
  • Fixed potential application crash during startup
  • Fixed render failure in scenes with post-FX light beams after resetting devices due to a device selection change or in multi-GPU setups
  • Fixed issue where Octane stole focus while running a Lua script every time it loaded a new scene
  • Fixed artifacts in caustics cast by objects with normal maps based on height maps
  • Fixed issue preventing splash screen from showing sometimes on macOS
  • Fixed issue causing files to get locked when nodes were copied to the clipboard
  • Fixed issue preventing ORBX files from being opened on macOS when double-clicking on them
  • Fixed issue where vertex displacement updates were not triggering render updates when connected to a vertex displacement node
  • Removed unnecessary logging displayed occasionally with some NVIDIA driver versions
Other changes
  • Changed Mesh UV using UV set 1 to be translated to the UV name "default" in FBX files, matching the default value documented by the format

Hello,

I'm trying to import USD points into Octane Standalone from Houdini.

With static point counts, this works fine, however with varying point counts, it doesn't seem to open at all.

Wondering if this is a bug or a feature that's not been implemented yet.
