This Addon Release is only compatible with Blender 5.1 - previous Blender 5.0 and 4.x releases are not supported.
This version works on the "vanilla" Blender 5.1.2 release, that you can download and install from the Blender Foundation website ( https://www.blender.org/ ).
The installation consists from two parts:
1. OctaneRender™ Server
2. OctaneRender for Blender Addon
How to Install
- Download the addon and the server files
- Unzip the Octane Addon Server in any location on your hard drive
- Launch the Octane Addon Server
- Launch Blender and from Preferences/Addon, install the Octane for Blender addon
- Select File > New > OctaneRender Startup (Direct Lighting) or File > New > OctaneRender Startup (Path Tracing)
- Quit Blender
- Launch Blender again
CHANGES SINCE LAST RELEASE
- Supported point cloud display color as Octane color attribute
- Supported "Always use camera resolution" for OSL cameras
- Added "Use Object Layer for Instances" (default off). When on, the collection's Object Layer applies to all of its instanced children; when off, each child keeps its own Object Layer
- Fixed loss of Object Layer on collection instances
- Fixed the Local DB list not refreshing without a server restart
- Fixed imported Transform value nodes becoming Camera Transform
- Minor Bug fixes

Bug Reports
For faster troubleshooting, please provide as much information as possible. Please include:
- Your Hardware specifications (unless they are included in your signature)
- A clear description of the issue you have found
- Steps that you took to trigger this bug, so that we can reproduce it (ideally, please also provide screenshots)
- If possible, Blend files for direct testing would also be appreciated
- Whenever possible, please confirm that this issue is only happening in the plugin, and not also in the Standalone Edition (if the bug occurs in both, it is likely that this issue should be reported in the OctaneRender Standalone section of the Forums).
- Open the directory of the Blender executable file.
- Double-click the blender_debug_log.cmd file to open it.
- This will launch Blender in debug mode and automatically start capturing logs.
- Reproduce the issue you are experiencing in Blender.
- Once you have finished reproducing the issue, close Blender.
- Blender will open a folder containing error log files.
- You can then send us the blender_debug_log.txt file to help us diagnose the issue.
You can get more information about the debug command at https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/troubleshooting/crash.html.
