Hi there,

is there a fast and easy way to convert v2020 Materials into v2026? It is from a pack we bought and now most of them are useless. Some seem to be wrongly wired (depends on Octane version), some are simply crashing Cinema/Octane - and this fast and often :( I sometimes open a scene, click on a material - and C4D is going "asleep" forever. Some have to be rewired, or it is like metalness had to be activated and different other things. Some easy, some complicated. We already converted Mix materials into the Composites wich worked well so far and was fast and easy. Has been only a few.

I am working in R20 for the conversion to get the v2020 to run so I don't have to switch it in R21 back an forth.

And is there a way to convert Layered Materials automatically? I tried the manual way with exchanging the layer and using a submaterial instead. Wich looks different sometimes, and this way may take really long.
So if there's a way ...

Hi,

Try to export from R20 to Standalone, then open the .orbx scene with Standalone 2026.2, and check that all materials are converted correctly, then save the orbx scene.
You can right-click on a material and choose Render.
Then, back in C4D, you can go to Live View menu File and use the "Unpack Package (ORBX)" command, to import all materials at once:
