Does anyone else ever have this problem? Half the time solo node works, and the other half, it just creates a black screen. At the moment, I've had two days of nothing but black screens whenever I try to solo a noise node, and creating new scenes and restarting does not fix the problem.

Is there something I could be doing do cause this? I know the bug still exists where if you have two textures open at one time, the noise node will only solo for a few seconds, but this definitely isn't that.

Yep, it's something to do with Standard Surface materials. I already know the material channel is completely broken in this build for Standard Surfaces, but it seems the noise channel is, too?

I just started an old scene, and every the material type performs fine, but standard surfaces fail when trying to solo them. The noise channel will also work immediately when you pump it into another material type.

Is there any timeline on when this and the material channel will be fixed/ Standard Surface is an amazing workflow, but it's completely unusable due to all the bugs.

Solo mode works without issues with Standard Surface material in this version:

Sorry, I didn't see you've responded! I tried to install it, but it didn't work, do I have to update 4D? I'm currently on 2025.2.0 and it's nice and stable, so would prefer to stay on this if I can.

Nope, you don't need to upgrade C4D 2025, but we have just published a new version with more fixes, please try with this one and report back, thanks:

That's the one I installed, but it doesn't seem to work. It successfully installs, but when I load up C4D, it still shows build 1.5.1

Ok, please go to c4d menu Extensions/Console/ (Shift+F10), then select "OctaneRender" on the left, and share a complete screenshot of the panel, or copy paste the OctaneRender console output in your answer, thanks.

Hi Bepe,

Hey dude, I thought I'd come back and update this, I didn't realise you'd replied. It wasn't working for a few days, and I ended up rebooting about ten times, and eventually, it started saying 1.6.1. It has jumped back to 1.5.1 a few times, which I can't explain, but as of now it's consistently saying 1.6.1

Just as an aside, so that I'm not cluttering the front page with threads, do you have a timeline for when material layers will work with Standard Surface materials again? I was hoping it would be fixed with 1.6.1, but I'm still unable to get anything working with them at all

Thanks mate
