So I have a stage-object and 2 other objects on the stage (f.e. my startscene "new.c4d") and all is black
The attachment Startscene.jpg is no longer available
Your viewport is fully filled by objects, so viewport is not black. Covered objects are with black textures. Spend some time to play with content to gather more info.

come on!
As I said two times: objects with octane material applied are displayed black in the viewport
Hope these screenshots are understandable now. ;)

All was fine before I updated to 2023.2.2.
Now I'm back to 2023.2.1 but this problem is still present!
I cannot work proberly when I cannot see anything in the viewport, because all objects are displayed black.

Is'nd there a workaround for that?

thanks
Mike

Delete oct.dat while C4D not open, it's in prefs folder. And START C4D

just that simple!
Deleting the "oct.dat" solved it!

Thanks very much!

Will it be added to C4D Octane version ( more options for mesh to SDF conversion ) ?

what was again the problem, if octane never finishes a rendering?

Thought there was a solution for that problem, but I don't remember.

Render is ready, but status still saying "Render progress..." and it never stops/saves.
"Show Passes" already disabled!

Mike
May I ask if this problem has been resolved? I am deeply troubled by it and can only use the R26 version now

I tested with many different projects, and they all trigger bugs, especially when a project renders output for the second time (output overwrites the previous image), it will appear 100%
c4d 2023.2.1
rtx4090
drive 535.98
It's happening on some setups when render AOVs are used. Work around is to disable the "show passes" parameter
If I disablethe "show passes" parameter, rendering can proceed, but the output image will not have Denoised beauty.

It's a new issue after C4D update on some CPU types. What's your CPU?

If it helps, I'd like to give you my CPU type too because I'm having the same issue (but no C4D crash for me): Intel 9900KS
Even trying with and without "Show Passes", in "EXR (Octane) or "EXR", trying compression other than DWAA/DWAB... I still haven't found the right combination to get all my passes and the denoised beauty.
