@protovu In the particles settings you can specify how many particles you want to display in the viewport (to speed things up if you have a huge amount of them). Octane follows those setting as well so it might be affecting your preview image.

As you can see, much better, but not a match. At least I should be able to get something done now.
The circled adjustment was what you were referring to, yes? - no need to respond, if yes, but would be grateful to know if otherwise.

Yeah, it still looks like there isn't as many strands in the viewport as there is in the render. Look at the number of particles you are generating, there is a viewport setting there too. At least there was the last time I played around with hair in 2.7x.
