I have seen some amazing Octane hair, and I am trying to do a little hair for a client project. Nothing fancy, but having a real struggle. Preview and Render are way off.

Looking for guidance on how to have Preview Render Hair match Render Hair.
Please see attached.

Any help appreciated.

Your scene works perfectly here. Out of curiosity, how much memory do you have on your GPU(s)?

Thanks, Lino.

Can you show me an image of your Render and Preview?

I am using 2 RTX 2080 supers.

I'm getting the same results that you are...

Thank you for showing me that! Nothing worse than thinking there is something wrong with my setup.

The hair we are using here came with a model. I did not make it.

I know next to nothing about particle hair, so a few quick questions, if you can indulge me:

Is the workflow to redo the hair Blender based , then Octane adjusted?

Or, should I use an Octane-Blender specific hair tutorial, so I do not end up in the same dillema?

Your advice appreciated,
Rick

Yes, you would create a particle hair system in Blender and then adjust it with the plugin to render. I haven't had any problems rendering Blender hair in Octane, although I haven't done it very much. :)

Thank you, Jason.

I thought I saw some amazing Octane hair on the Blender Octane Render Forum , but now I cannot find it.....even in the archives. (insert sad imogee face here)

If I discover anything not obvious, I will share.

You must enable "Show emitter " in particle render settings.
To adjust the look of the hair play with Root and Tip thickness in Octane hair settings which is located below hair/particle settings.

JC to the rescue again!

1. Again, Octane owes you a salary.

2. I am moving into your basement so I can get all the answers I need.

OK....much better, but I am still working in the dark. That is , Preview does not match Render.
It is supposed to match, correct?

Any advice appreciated, thank you.
