Octane Crashes a LOT (like 2 - 3 time per hour) and most of the time it happens when I make 'any' changes to materials.
This scene file is small (see attached bug report and scene file)
It's a new scene, containing only 1 plane object.
I added a new diffuse material, and it crashed in the same way that it does every other time that I add or adjust materials while the live viewer is running.
A cannot send an octane log because it crashes before it writes anything

Can you send a c4doctanelog.txt with all log outputs activated as soon as crashed.

Loading the scene that gives "not enough memory" error.

I dont always get the "not enough memory" error upon crash.
When a crash happens the whole of C4D locks up.
I have to go 'Task Manager' > 'End Process' to kill it, and then restart C4D.
When I reload that project the Octane log has NO information other that when it started (see attached).
Please note: If I send the "Maxon bugreport" to Maxon, they write back and tell me the crash was caused by the Octane plugin.

Hi,
I have written you a Private Message.
ciao Beppe
I have written you a Private Message.
ciao Beppe
Octane Log attached
Another crash related to materials.
Since my original post, I have upgraded Windows to 1903
and removed Intel TurboBoost app that was 'possibly' causing CPU issues,
and unchecked the GPU Priority boxes in settings.
I get fewer crashes now (but still far too many) , but as I originally stated, the crashes that I do get are still mostly when editing materials
Please see log file
regards
Toby

HOT TIPS to reduce Octane crashing
After weeks of relentless crashing (like several times an hour) I raised a ticket with OTOY help team. Bepe (great guy) got me to do several system checks & diagnostics, and discovered a list of things to tune.
The changes we made have reduced the crashing dramatically so here they are. I hope this helps anyone who is also suffering a lot of crashes.

- Make sure your windows OS is up to date (I upgraded from 1809 to 1903). You will need to do this in order to run the latest drivers.
Only use Nvidia 'Studio' drivers, not Gaming or Beta drivers. Nvidia make you choose which type when downloading from their site, so in the Manual Driver Search panel, click the 'All' menu - here you will find Studio as an option.
Disable 'OpenGL' in Octane. This on by default (and probably shouldn’t be!). It is done in two places:-- Octane Settings > Other (tab) >'Use Octane for Opengl previews' (uncheck this).
Octane Dialog > Options (menu) > 'Opengl previews' (uncheck this).
- Set Priority to LOW
Make sure all your GPU cards are checked in the first column
In the Priority column, only check the GPU that is running your monitor(s). Leave the others unchecked.
Disable any CPU booster application (eg Intel Turbo Boost). - Octane Settings > Other (tab) >'Use Octane for Opengl previews' (uncheck this).
Disabling the opengl previews is not a good idea. And it should work fine without doing this. It will broke some functionality.

Just a quick finding for anyone who has texture-related crashes. What worked for me is disabling "Multi-Thread for materials" in Settings > Other.
