I agree 100% they add so much new stuff every month and briefly describe in forums. No good manuals or video tutorials. All these new materials are added but no good tutorials so we dont even use them.Rik wrote:I'm not sure why everything seems so unintuitive with little or no instruction in their own manual. Poor Paride shouldn't have to be doing 1 on 1 tutorials for something as basic as a bit of fog.
I don't know if this works the same way in Octane Max, but 90% of the time, a simple fog plane does the trick for me.Rik wrote:Never used fog before but am hoping it might add a little realism/depth to my exterior visuals.
Is there a simple way of doing it?
Looked at the Octane manual and it gets complex pretty quickly.
If I need a VDB file where do I get one?

Hi guys,
It's not possible at the moment, because when Octane initialise samples, it immediately deems them to be inside the medium. There's not an opportunity to defer that, unless to introduce some hard coded sphere geometry, or some other solution to stop the trace when it hits a clip depth so that Octane can initialise the environment medium.
