I watch your video and the problem is that you change the materials without making a material-node, look at my Graph editor, it's necessary to make a node-material for each node of the mash.

@bepeg4d.. thats my suspicion actualy, but it is not suppose to be like that or is it? because changing material can be in any form and way isnt it. Correct me if i am wrong, but arent those workflows basicaly the same? it could be as complex as yours or as simple as mine, but the principle is when the animation using an presaved scene, it should render that presaved scene,..

I just successfully rendered my scene by using nodes for all material and saving each one. Even the emitter was remembered by octane, which previously had not worked for me.

bepeg4d Thanks for the tip! i really appreciate it. maybe I will post the results when its all done.

I should have looked at Face's ICE thread he has animated emitters all over... oh well

Hi, you are right when you say that it wouldn't be so complicated but at this beta stage this is the only solution, maybe next beta brings the connection from plugin as it was in the 1.22  anyway working with nodes is very pleased and powerful, please try it ;)

@ Bulwerk:
you are welcome but the tip is from kubo, I only put all the things together :)

thanks bepeg4d, but I stumbled on it, I always use nodes so actually you are the one who figured it out why in my case was working and not in sublime's so the credit should be yours. ;)

thanks guys, its a shame tho, because what i think, if it works in camera only it should works in moving objects as well using both nodes and the material panel on the right.,..ok move on... :D

Let me see if I get it.
My issue with animation happens (guessing) because in animation, C4D sends the file to Octane for every frame to render. While I can edit the materials (and sky, settings etc) IN Octane, when the frame I'm working on finishes rendering, Octane takes the next frame from C4D but looses all my changes. I have to admit that I haven't tried the nodes yet (love nodes BTW, use them in Blender frequently) but didn't want to cause everything I seem to change gets lost on the next frame. What do you do to keep the Octane settings for the entire animation?
For the moment I'm trying to bring Cinema 4D and Octane closer (testing and all). From what I understand I guess the best way to work with animation is to make the C4D file Octane ready. (i.e. hit Render in Cinema and go to bed while Octane renders...) but I'm not sure if it's possible (having troubles with FOV settings and environment generally).
BTW I'm using the .22 Beta (the stable thingy but might be wrong)
Thanx!
EDIT: @ beppe Loved your website, greetings from Greece!

Hi gr8effect,
I don't know if I have understand well but make an animation with C4D and Octane 1.22b it's pretty simple. First you click on "Render" in the plugin and open Octane. Set all the materials, light and kernel settings and save the ocs file. Return to C4D and click on "Render animation" and Cinema will export all the single frames to Octane.
Unfortunately there are some limitation, you can't use or animate the physical sky or particles or Hair, they are not visible in Octane. For the sun you can create a "Distant Light" and connect it to Octane via plugin.
Anyway I encourage you to switch to 1.23 v5, it's much better than 1.22. In this case the only way that I've found for not loosing the Octane settings is to create a material node for "each" node in the mash, also the ones that are looking correct. If you don't do in this way, when you reopen a ocs file via plugin, all the materials are mess up.
Hope could help ;)

Ciao beppe

P.S. Thanx for the kind words about my site :)
