Hello,
It would be nice if the Octane Scatter took the displacement node into account.
Now it is nearly impossible to scatter something on a displaced object. (e.g. some stones or vegetation on a displaced terrain..)
Is this possible to do in the future?
Would be great.
Thanks!

Hi Kretschi,
have you tried with a c4d displace deformer, instead of material displacement?

You can do it easily. Have you checked position parameter in scatter object?

It works... but you have to make sure the color profile is set to linear, otherwise the objects do not line up with the displaced surface correctly. Thanks for pointing me to the right direction!
As for the edge artifacts, just resize your displacement map to 1.002 and they should disappear.
I have written a short tutorial on this.

I am sorry to reOpen the subject but I have an additional question to this.
I have plane (400 x 6000 cm) with a texture that has displacement on it. I have transformed my texture trough the c4d texture tag to be able to tile it and keeping the displacement to tile too.
But when I input the displacement map on the Scatter Position parameter it doesnt allow me to transform it (tile it basically) as I did in the texture tap of my plane.
Anybody had any hint about that ?
Thanks

Don't put displacement but texture that's connected to displacement. And ply with translate.y parameter.jeremyshin wrote:I am sorry to reOpen the subject but I have an additional question to this.
