But i see that the glass is still with dark shadows, or at least the overall look remains the same, even if now it will be noise free much faster.
When do you think we will be able to see transparent shadows for glass?

@pedro: we're shooting for end of next week/beginning of the week after.
btw, how about the ability to save without background (with alpha), is this planned or in the working for the next updates?

Looking really good. Excited to see these teasers time to time. I haven't played so much with octane, but it really starts to be very solid product.

It's probably a matter of using path tracing and increasing the max depth for the kernel, we verified this to be working at some point, but I can't check it right now.Florinmocanu wrote:But i see that the glass is still with dark shadows, or at least the overall look remains the same, even if now it will be noise free much faster.

It's planned but we can't give a time frame for it.matej wrote:btw, how about the ability to save without background (with alpha), is this planned or in the working for the next updates?
It's not faster than it was in v4. There may be some room for improvement here, but in the end glossy is a more complex material than diffuse or specular. Haven't noticed that big performance differences when using it though, will keep an eye on it.sam75 wrote:is glossy reflection faster in V5 ? this is what kills rendering time actually
Hi Brecht, can we expect absorption for specular materials , too:?:
Is the the mix node a blendnode for materials?
