Ok....so out of frustration with Carrara modifiers, or and the fact that Daz has abandoned Carrara, I am trying to learn Blender.
I have purchased the Blender Octane plugin.

My question:
Is it possible to get an Octane material from Carrara into Blender?

I don't know the Blender plugin but it should support importing materials from the local db material store.
The best way to move materials from carrara to the local db is to export your scene from carrara and load it into octane standalone.

Then you can save you materials to the local db and import them into blender.
Remember to save to Local DB, not Live DB. Local DB is stored on your hard drive, Live DB is stored in the cloud and will make your materials public.

Thank you, Simon. Much appreciated.
But, it seems Carrara does not export a scene that Octane can open.

use export from the octane render viewport.

the scene opens, I can select and copy, but pasting into the LDB is not working. The material gets pasted into the node graph editor.

In the node graph in the standalone, right click on the material you want to save and pick 'Save...'

In the save dialog change location to 'Local DB'.
Enter a category if you want, change its name, give it a description. Click Ok.

You should now see your material in the Local DB tab on the left most panel.

Note that you can save anything you want in local DB, not just materials. Note however, Blender may only support a limited set of imports. O4C only supports importing materials.

Thank you, Simon.
Are you available for Octane for Blender questions?

I know nothing about Blender. Never used it.

It is new to me, but as I find a little footing, it is very impressive. I am optimistic about it regarding projects. I though Octane would be a good inroad for me. It is definitely faster than
Cycles.
Modifiers alone are incredible.

Hi Rick,
I was there several times and tried alot other pieces of 3D software... but always came back to Carrara. What I can't do in Carrara, I do in Realflow or Houdini. I don't use Blender anymore, but I hope it works for you :)
Best wishes,
Thomas
