Hi all,

I am having trouble batch rendering with Octane in 3dsMax. I have currently have two cameras set up in a scene and I have added them to the batch render que. The following problem arises:

- When I attempt to batch render through my own computer, the images appear to render on screen and reach the required samples, but then they do not save to the output folder and I get an error message at the end...

I have also thought one workaround to this would be to keyframe each still camera - but how does one create a keyframe for a still camera?

Many thanks for any replies

Basically I think I want to do this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RA6-Pro8Qpk , but the script no longer exists..

When reading the Octane user manually, it appears as though batch rendering is perfectly possible however, so I cant understand why it wont save to the output folder. Any ideas?

I use two methods for camera renders:

1. On still images there I just need different angles like a front and back view. I set up a camera rig. One camera. On frame 1 with values XYZ, then same cam on frame 2 with keyed values for sun/hdr and position.
2. On animation or just different cams I use this script: http://sergepogosyan.com/batchcam/ It works well with Octane. It has plenty of options.

Hope it helps. :)

Hi princedragoncok,
If you want to use 3dsMAx Batch Render option, it works like any render engine.
Attached a test file with Batch Render set for single shot/frame for each camera.

Thanks for the replies. I tested both the script above and the batch test file.

The batch test file worked, it rendered and saved to the output folder fine.

It appears that the problem is therefore with my 3dsMax file. In fact Octane fails to save to any output folder even with a single standard render. The only way I can save a render is by opening the OctaneRender viewport and manually saving.

Please see screenshots attached of the error messages I receive.

It will be no easy task to rebuild this model into a new file as it is massive and contains many xrefs and a revit link. Therefore any help with the current file would be greatly appreciated.

Prior to this I was running with Vray with no issues, but now I would like to migrate to Octane.

Many Thanks
