I'm using Octane version 3.06 on Windows 10.
I'm rendering multiple projects varying in length from 20 to 200 frames. They have about 30 - 40 different textures. I have Mat ID pass enabled. The weird thing is, sometimes, the mat id pass will change colors multiple times throughout the render. Very frustrating and adds time in compositing to keyframe these color values to keep the matte consistent.
Any idea why this would be happening?
Mat ID Issue: Colors change

Hi DS_mike,
I made 50 cubes with 50 materials, and even at 200 frames rendered I'm not seeing any Material ID changes.
Can you render this and see if you get the same results?

I tested that scene but couldn't replicate the issue I was having. It's odd. It only happens sometimes....I wonder....I'm also referencing Alembic files for the geometry, maybe that could be introducing something? I'm in the middle of the project so I can't do too many tests right now. Just was curious to see if anyone has ever experienced this.

Happens to me. Im in the middle of a project so I don't have time to do tests, but my guess, turning on and off objects in the manager during animation cause the renderer to reassign color ID?

Looks like you're right.mrpinoux wrote:Happens to me. Im in the middle of a project so I don't have time to do tests, but my guess, turning on and off objects in the manager during animation cause the renderer to reassign color ID?
I made a change to that original test and disabled one of the cubes at frame 68, and some, but not all MatID colors were changed.
rendered with 3.07R2

That's good to know!
Well, if you have the time, can you try to animate a display tag visibility, instead of visible Editor/Render, to see if this affects it as well?
Thank you for the tests!

Meaning, no issues with the matID anymore?

Ahmet, good sir, is there a way to get a fix for this, or this is something out of your control?
Community, what do you guys do to get around this, meaning still using matID and having objects being turned on and off, troughout the c4d plugin?
Thanks!

It looks like a core behavior as you can see my test in Standalone.mrpinoux wrote:Ahmet, good sir, is there a way to get a fix for this, or this is something out of your control?
