Background Object Not Rendering

For some reason I can't get a background object to render. I know I know, select the alpha channel box. It's not working. I've used it many times before without issue. Am I missing something obvious or is something actually wrong here? I've attached the file.

Not sure if this is the only solution, but it looks like it needs content and not just a color.
I tried loading a jpeg into your material and it loads show fine. If you want that color, maybe create a jpeg in photoshop with that red and load that into the color channel.

Ah ha! Originally I was using a video. I found out that wouldn't work after i started using the solid color as a test. Turns out that doesn't work either. I put in an image sequence and it works great.

So, good to know: background object must contain imagery.

Not just images. Also c4d shaders are possible but no video files.
