Is that something new in maya/octane?effectzero wrote:Here's the recipe for 32bit IPR (2.x Octane / Maya)

2 Color: Raw
3 Save from IPR window as OpenEXR (*Make sure your save options are set to save RAW)
This saves 32bit images from Maya IPR.

No, that's not new.itsallgoode9 wrote: Is that something new in maya/octane?
In addition for Maya 2014/2015 you have to make sure in the display menu that the render-view use the 32 bits mode.
Also in pre2016 Maya version you may have encountered a stupid Octane plugin bug:
From Maya help: " In Maya version 2015, you cannot save a .exr image directly from the Render View window, but you can do so by selecting .exr as your image format in the Render Settings window: Common tab, then clicking in the Render View. A tmp folder is created in your images directory that contains your <filename>.exr result."
And as Octane plugin is hiding EXR in the format list, it is preventing us to output EXR.

So you can't blame only yourself if it was not working on your side...
The way image format have been implemented in the Maya plugin was just a quick dirty workaround at the beginning,
and for some reason JimStar never considered to do a proper implementation.
As a result, we still have the worst way ever to select image format among all renderer plugin.
