Getting to know Octane for c4d. Normally in c4d I use psds for all my image textures, with multiple layers for diffuse, bump, specular etc etc.
c4d then allows me to select a layerset to use in a particular material slot. This saves me using multiple files for different slots on the same material.
This doesn't seem to work in Octane materials or am I missing a trick? Must I use a different image file for each slot?
Might this ability be implemented in a future update?
More generally, is using psds for image textures a good idea? Or is there another format that Octane prefers for speed, like tx in Arnold?
Thanks for any help.
Couple of newb questions on image textures

Hi mitchino,
always better to use single texture file in uncompressed format, c4dOctane needs that every image texture is loaded inside an Imagetexture node, otherwise the Gamma option, that is crucial for texturing, and other features are not reachable.
Happy rendering,

Side note:
If you use C4D's bitmap with "LAYERSET" that will work mostly. Plugin will extract the selected layer from psd and convert it to a internal ImageTexture. But conversion from Xbitmap to ImageTexture is a bit non-consistent for some options. And you'll loose controls of ImageTexture type.

Pls check attached scene to see usage of a psd. But using seperated files are always better for plugin as Beppe said.
