Motion Blur Crashes Batch Render
Moderator: JimStar
Did you try to add a couple of keyframes before and after the whole animation? Try to lower the motion samples and try to batch render a single image then. What will it say?
The motion blur is causing me trouble.
I have an animation with a few animated (only rotation) objects and camera that has 500 frames.
Then I have added keyframes (for camera and objects) at frame 2000 (as a pony tail) and start a batch for the first 500 frames.
The motion blur stops.
I don't get it.
Any workarounds???
To be honest -This problem needs to be fixed urgently. It is causing a lot of trouble for the Maya users who need MB.

... saving and reloading the same scene seems to fix it sometimes.

I can't guess what happens on your setup without proper description of what you do exactly and what you get, plus script editor content and "mayaRenderLog.txt" content (with "Verbose mode" enabled)... Perhaps some screenshots where needed, perhaps the scene itself in addition... I can't work with description "it does not work for me and for any other Maya users"...
MB in Maya works OK if properly set up. I've checked ruhi scene - all works as expected.

Hi JimStar,
here is an example of the common problem when Maya and Octane won't batch render with motion blur:

Still no answer to this Motion Blur issue that makes troubles for months now.
I have tested it again and recorded the problem with a quick screen capture.
So a file that will not render (because of Motion Blur / missing frames for the shutter length) will render fine after saving and reopening the same file.
- Must be a bug. Please fix this.
I have the video and scene file attached. It is a simple sphere in a scene.
The Error message in the Render Log is the same as above:
Error: Internal motion blur animation with "After" direction and 0.5 shutter requires 12 extra frame(s) after the animation's end frame.
...
Error: line 1: Cannot find procedure "shaderBallRendererMenuUpdate".
So extending the timeline to stop the error will only work after saving and reloading the scene.

Yes, this looks like a bug, thank you for detailed report. It should not be reopened after changing the count of frames in scene.Refracty wrote:So a file that will not render (because of Motion Blur / missing frames for the shutter length) will render fine after saving and reopening the same file.

Will check it when I switch back to Maya plugin...
Getting the same error even after reload.
I have a camera turntable animation from 1-200 frames, I have moved in in to start frame 25 to end at 175. Stills get the "animation requires extra frames" error on batch.
Motion blur also doesn't show up in the renderview, is that the same bug?
