Hi Render friends,
I am testing the Octane demo with Poser plugin atm. But my good old Computer is too old (Nvidia GTX480). I am really in love with Octane but first I need a new PC.
My budget is limited so what do you think about this stats:
Ultra i7 Gaming-PC Computer: i7Intel 4790K 4x4.4 GHz - GeForce GTX980 4GB DDR5 - 16GB DDR3 1600 - 256 GD SSD - 2TB HDD - Windows7
Will I am able to work good with this? Normally I do not render higher than 1600px.

Greetings
Mirana/Angela

Why do you want new PC? But GTX 480 is good enough. If you want more VRAM then you buy new GTX 780 6GB or GTX 980. New CPU isn't important. ;)

That would be plenty powerful enough for the vast majority of Poser scenes. Make sure you get onboard graphics (ie. Intel HD something), to use as your Windows display adapter (or use the GTX480).

Hi and thanks for helping!

Edit:noticed that I just have a GTX460
I dont think that my GTX can handle it. The Demo make an error (look at the pic) when having some clothing pieces or complex hair.
I know that CPU is not needed for Octane :-)
If just a new Grapic-card is the key my moneybag would be happy.
But with the error you sure can help me.

Hi Angela. Your card is running out of memory. Enable Out Of Core Textures in the plugin Settings to get around this. A new card would serve you well. For Poser, get a card with at least 3GB VRAM. The GTX460 will be slow and not have enough RAM for demanding Poser scenes.

Hi Paul!
I think I will just take a new GC. I found the GTX 780 6GB at Amazon. Sounds good to me.

Code: Select all

Enable Out Of Core Textures in the plugin Settings to get around this

Where can I find this?

Thanks

Instead of the demo, use the 3 month Octane VR trial version. It is a much more recent version.

Trying it atm. Pretty cool! It seems to work with that out of core function.
Thanks a lot
