Honestly, i do not have a list of rules for post. First i play with passes from Octane. (dLight,Refl etc..) Once i'm happy with contrast and lighting. Then add some "Color Lookup" and play with it. (one or mix some)

@ChrisVis: DL-diffuse is bad option!! :? Attention to look to have specular materials. DL-diffuse hasn't "radiated" any reflection and/or refraction to appear sharp to (not very) blurry caustics - therefore, not true photorealism. ;)
