I've been trying to get something similar, but no way.
All specular material are as if they were completely opaque!
I attach to this post an ugly flowerish object that I've done with Blender and a rendered image o it.
Can you please help me to setup some beautifull glass material?

it seems it come from your mesh normals !... i've made a "recalculate normal outside" on the flower mesh. and all seems going well
