Hi there !

Here is one of my first attempt to render a character with octane... (Also because there are not so much in the gallery)
Still a lot to learn again and also i'm waiting for the hair function of octane 2.0 to improve my work.

First Render (portrait) achieved in 2hours (1370x2000 pixels). 10000 samples needed in order to avoid too much noise in the hair (hope v2.0 will fix this).
Scene without hair is noise free with 3000 samples.
Other Pics are just quick showcases shots (600x900)in 3000 samples without DOF.
I need help for the background stage that have strange shadows issue: if anyone now why i'll be gratefull to provide me some solution !!!

Rendered from a Lee Perry Smith scanned model (that's why the close-up have some visible defaults).
Egg seat is from Tom Glimps scene.
Few corrections added in photoshop.

I'll post some stereo renders soon because this test scene was intended to familiarize me with stereo rendering.
EDIT: link for stereo pic below (lot better seeing it using 3dvision or anything else than anaglyph)

More to come...

Comments & suggestions are welcome.

Thank you for watching

Gorgeous!

BTW. Shadows are strange - too dark/purple and seem to look like dirt especially on her nose and below eyes (plus teeth). Besides it is very pleasant and romantic. Great job!

Very nice ! Maybe just a bit of terminator problem just under the nose... not very noticeable though.

In theory lovely :) Really like the natural texture of lips and skin etc. What strikes me as odd is the way the skin folds up at the neck, and that large dark crease going across the muscle, with the purpleblack shadows .... I dunno why, but the ashen/purple colorisation lets the woman look far older than I guess she's suppsoed to be.

- should use PMC kernel recommended due to photorealistic, sorry for long time render
- must enable sub-surface scattering (SSS) for skin

Because your images have a bit "cartoon".

;)

Hi nuno1980!

Thank you for watching and for your comments...

Actually Images are rendered in PMC and skin uses SSS. ;)
In fact I haven't put so much SSS because i don't like the "waxy" look of a stronger SSS. Maybe I'll tweak it a little but I was satisfacted with the render of the skin (Test render below...).

Anyway thank you again for your advices !

Oh Man! These are much better. And I am not talking only about shadows :)

Hi Voon ! Thank you for your comment !

Aparently, the defaults you are talking about are from the scanned model so I guess you must complain directly at the model. ;)
In my case if that woman cames at my office i don't think i'll talk about her "folds up at the neck, and that large dark crease" she has on the pic...

Beautiful
Great Weighting. She looks like she is putting weight on the leg but somewhat not perfectly balanced. A unique pose that is so much more interesting than typicla pin-up
Well done.
