i still get a lot of "render failures" in the picture viewer, stopping after a short period
its a very small, scene, so its definitely not a memory issue.

its like wile working (doing tests, stopping, changes, etc) the gpu (or c4d?) gets messed up after a while
sadly not a long while, working 20min with 2-3 stopped renders already made the errors appear
quitting c4d and trying again helps most of the time.

mac os x 10.8.5, R15.057, newest CUDA driver, newest NVIDA driver
do you have log output? You can check Octane Log window from help menu.

Ron wrote:Hi Aoctar,

V 1.01 is working fine for me under Win8.1 with R15. Thank you for all the effort you put in to develop this plugin. I appreciate it very much.

Two issues came up doing renders with V 1.01:

1) Saving images is not possible using the 'FILE/SAVE AS! dialog. No image is saved.

2) Rendered images using HDR environment force a lot of noise. I tried with many different methods but no clean result. Attached is an example image. Please have a look and let me know what is wrong.

Thanks and best regards

Ron
Did you adjust the hotspot slider at all? That does seem like a lot of noise for an HRDI regardless

No. What do you mean with 'hotspot slider'? Have not read about that in help files.

My apologies. I'm not in front of Octane right now. Its the Hotpixel slider under the Camera Imager tab in settings. i always keep that slider down
Hot Pixel Removal: The Hot Pixel Removal slider is used to remove the bright pixels (fireflies) during the rendering process. While many of the pixels can dissappear if the render is allowed to progress, the Hot Pixel Removal feature allows the bright pixels to be removed at a much lower Sample per Pixel.

Ron, please check this sample scene
this is produced with 1.10, and texture scale looks little different but ok anyway.

I tried your scene but the result was noisy like before. I figured out that using Rainasawrus HDRI the renders are clean and without noise. With your or any other HDRI the results gonna get noisy.

What can be the reason for that?

BTW: I tuned down the hotpixel value to zero with no effect.

Ron

PS: what about the save file as function? Any ideas why it is not working for me?

PS 2: Your scene with an Rainasawrus HDRI - clean and crisp

This is Ahmets sample szene on my machine after 1 min rendertime. Hotpixel slider was set to 1. Never touched that slider. In my opinion it gives bad results! Tryed ahmets HDR and rainsaws. no difference! Win 7 x64. c4d r15 with Octane 1.10! Maybe a win 8 problem?

Ron,
If you say that you got different result on this scene, really weird. It should be very similar as picture of CFrank. Can you put the output for this original scene?
This remind me a bad hdri images or wrong gamma settings. i think your setting is on for importance sampling, isn't?

Also save images was fixed a few million years ago. If you didn't reset render, it should work. Did you tried png8/16, exr outputs?

Tryed it also in 1.01 1.20.3! I was curious! Same results like in 1.10, only texture and hdri looks of course difference, cause of new transforms!

Only 1.20.3 is a BIT faster! I get 13.3ms/sec in 1.20.3 hehe! In 1.10 it are 12.x

Seems to be a win 8.1 problem or your machine is not ok! Maybe another win 8.1 person can try!

Importance sampling on off can´t be this problem and also gamma and power cant be the problem ahmet, if he used your szene 1:1 and gets the same error and he said he did that!
