@ChrisVis

Well, with 8 GPUs you can afford to turn one off for rendering :shock:

I am not so Lucky.... :(

I will try turning one GPU off rendering with 0.6.7c and see how it goes.

I am on the newest Nvidia driver by the way.

This error window show something gone wrong on render side. Maybe a memory or texture limit problem.
In Octane settings window->others->show log this can show maybe something or check your gpu ram
Hi aoktar,

I haven`t noticed, that full scene update could also be deactivated in the C4D render Settings of Octane. Disabled it and doing a fast rendering test now with the picture manager with the same scene, only 600 maxsamples this time, 4-7s for each frame, with 1024x576... rendered 250 frames now in about 25 min without problem, all 8 GPUS active! (while browsing, photoshopping and doing other stuff, slightly delayed of course).
Will do the same test with full scene update again later.

I have only 2 textures loaded in the scene, GPU Memory usage is about 18%. One of the Textures is a agreyscale 8 bit PSD, in a normal C4D Material, loaded into the texture tab of the color properties. The other one is a RGB 8bit PSD with included alpha loaded in the opacity channel (texture -> imagetexture) of a diffuse octane material. Just noticed it is loaded as type normal - not alpha (but it shows with alpha in final rendering?). May this cause problems? If I use type alpha, I have to invert it to get the same result.
The Textures are in the tex folder. Is it necessary to also define the Texture folder in the settings path tab?
Doing readout with GPU shark now (http://www.ozone3d.net/gpushark/), gives a nice overview of all gpus, but no logging...

I let you know, if the crashes happen again with full scene update later...If yes, I will try without textures to limit the possible crash reasons.

Hey Aoktar,

Do you know how long until a Mac 0.67 will be released please?

0.64 is the most unstable version yet crashes every 2-3mins. Random times.

Thanks

@kristoph:
I like to see results of windows version firts. Also mac version has a little problem. After getting away and tested i'm going to upload. I hope for this day.

@Chrisvis: sound is good. When Picture Viewer is perfect i can remove preview maker. Also i don't think it is related a texture usage problem. I have used 2xgtx 590 and some times one gpu in rendering will become unusable. Generally a memory problem when has many and big textures.
Also render speed is great. How can you use 8 gpu and your temperatures is how so lower?

Ok, so now my animation with the picture manager stuck on frame 66 (0.6.7c), gpus are unloaded and nothing happens, staying there till 22 Minutes now. No Crash, but Render Hang Up... I can close the picture Manager and start again or resume... but loose a lot of time, if I don`t babysitt my render.

Will try the same scene without the textures later...

Hey aoktar,

I have watercooling for all gpus. For me the temperatures are high, we have a hot sommer day with about 32 degrees today... usually they are 5-10 degree cooler. Had a maximum of 70 degrees for one gpu today, which usually is about 60-62. Thats the hottest one. I have a huge Fan behind my radiator now to get the temperatures not too high. 8-)

0.6.7c feedback of daily use.
I crashed 2 times in a row,
i was playing with cloner objects with lights and the distance between lights,the preview viewer was set on "play". (no geometry update option)
so i had to pause de preview render then change my lights setup, and everything worked fine.

OK understandable! :-)

Whilst you're working on that would it be possible to email me the older version please? The version before 0.64. This was much more stable. Sorry I dont have a backup of it.

Edit – it's ok now Ive found an older version.
