I guess as I bought it today I assumed that the download would have the latest update, so is there updates posted here? I'm pretty new here.
Love the Daz plugin way more than the poser one very well integrated.
Have a few renders today, as soon as I replaced the displacement maps with normal the details started coming out.
So will be looking forward to the update and I'll waiting for that.
Thank
Thanks !
I had to convert him to Sub-D and go to the highest level to get the smoothest render and the normal maps helped a lot.
There a new program free at the moment for converting displacements to normals.
Found here. https://www.knaldtech.com/

apart from the initial release the installer will be only updated with versions proven to be more stable. currently there is pretty much bugfixing going on, on my side, and also the plugin version of octane receives some updates to allow more reliable operation. this should lead to a 1.1 update within the next few weeks. after that it should be possible to work more on new (or missing) features, which will then again be posted here as .zip downloads.
to stay up-to date you might want to subscribe to this topic: http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=30137
ps: the last versions also includes on online update check, so you will get noticed of updates as soon they are ready (be it a new installer, or a bugfix/patch/test version)...

Hi Gerald
I have some huge Troubles with the Octane Plugin at the moment.
First i could not open the scenes, so i deleted all Daz Lights in it.
Then i was able to open the Octane Scenes.
I started changing some of the Materials to fit my liking in Octane. I then
saved the scene as always. When i wanted to go back and open it, the Scene started
loading before crashing.
I dont know what happend but every scene i Saved after i altered some Octane Materials is now
crashing on open. I can open a scene i never opened before as long as i dont change any material.
What could that be?
I send you a mail with the error logs for the two scenes. Hope you can find out something. I can not even
open them to render a draft in 3Delight render, because it crashes before i could select the render engine...
hate to be a pain but I hope the next fixes come soon, I've got a lot of projects halted because I can't open the files anymore. I start new projects and then they always end up at the same stopping point. Plugin is great, but this current challenge is not something I can overcome.

If you have a notebook without octane, you could mabe "Repair" the scene. I found out, that i can open all my "corrupted" scenes there, as if nothing ever happened. So i try to open and save them again, i can tell you later, if they could be opened again on the octane Machine in the evening.

Thanks for the tip, I forgot about that for a while.
you can just disable the plugin. and then relaunch DS to restore the files on the same machine. Save the file without Octane enabled. Then enable octane restart DS and keep working.
Thing is if you really fancy what you have done material/lighting wise and don't have an older iteration saved (with a different file name) then you may lose all the important octane settings.
Sometimes redoing the octane stuff is ok, sometimes its not something you are prepared to do.
I am a rather experienced Octane user, and I have purchased the DAZ Studio plugin today. I have created a simple animation by loading a single AniMate2 block and converting it to plain keyframes. I then try to render the animation sequence with the plugin, and it stops at frame 4 (renders up to frame 3). I can cancel the job and start it over, but it always stops at frame 4. It just takes forever and never finishes that frame.
After stopping the animation sequence job, I can see that the first 3 frames on file. If I try to render a frame after that (not animation, just a frame), it opens a modal dialog saying "Currently building geometry. Please wait..." which I can wait for the longest time and it will never finish. Since the dialog is modal and has no close button, I have no option but to kill DAZ Studio or I will remain locked in that dialog forever.
I closed DS and tried again, loading another animation block, converting it to normal keyframes in the timeline, and trying to render the animation. The same thing happens - it renders up to the 4th frame, never finishing it. If I just stop the job and quit the program, DS runs into an exception and crashes right away.
I am using the latest version of DAZ Studio 4.5 Pro, and the updated plugin version. My GeForce driver is also updated (I have a GTX580 3GB). It works fine with single renders, I just can't get it to work with DS animations.
