Thanks to all for your kind comments
paoloverona:Yep, the lamp has a text texture indeed. And yes I've created the floor, it has a bump map but each plank is a individual mesh to get more realism.
evo:Yes the carpet is made of instances (no fallof) like the floor, lusters and whatever is more than 3 times in the scene
I updated the topic with some additional information

Well juste because with PMC and PT even with portals on windows, after 4 hours the image was still highly noisy, duno why, but with this kind of scene, it's really hard to get something noise free. Maybe it's due to the HDR lighting, I think I don't have such a problem using sunlight. I would like to know about other experience, I know Gabrielefx ofter uses PMC but it seems that even with 4 cards the rendering time is over 4 hours.evo wrote:thanks so much for the additional infos, but now i want to know hwy you choose ambient occlusion 4 instead of pmc o pt.

thanks for the quick reply!
I totally agree with that! In a past work i've got same issuses with that! in the italian forum infact gabriele fx suggest me to use pmc instead of pt
that help a lot but still too much time to clear most of the noise at least
here's the topic (in italian sorry) http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 57&start=0
But here you can see what i'm talking about

Hi,
Sometimes I ask myself why I spend so much time on doing so many personal projects and sometimes I get encouraging answers.
My Alpha Rest Room has been published in the last november issue of 3D World magazine and this helps to proceed on working for nothing else than some satisfaction

Another thing that could help in keeping you encouraged in "spending" so many time in your projects is that your works inspire and make dream lot of us in the hoping that one day we can reach such level
Thank you Enrico!
