We are excited to bring you the latest Stable Release, for the OctaneRender for Blender Addon!

This Addon Release is only compatible with Blender 5.2.2 - previous Blender 5.x and 4.x releases are not supported.

This version works on the "vanilla" Blender 5.2.2 release, that you can download and install from the Blender Foundation website ( https://www.blender.org/ ).

The installation consists from two parts:
1. OctaneRender™ Server
2. OctaneRender for Blender Addon

How to Install
  • Download the addon and the server files
  • Run the Octane Addon Server installer (or, if you downloaded the ZIP file, extract the Octane Addon Server zip file to any location on your hard drive)
  • Launch the Octane Addon Server
  • Launch Blender and from Preferences -> Add-ons, click on the small arrow at the top right and choose "Install from Disk..."
  • Select the downloaded .zip archive of the Octane for Blender addon
  • Select File > New > OctaneRender Startup (Direct Lighting), or File > New > OctaneRender Startup (Path Tracing)
  • Quit, and then relaunch Blender

CHANGES SINCE LAST RELEASE
  • Update to 2026.5
  • Integrate Blender 5.2.2
  • Added Camera polarization filter
  • Added Server panel in the sidebar: launch, wait for and check the Server from Blender
  • Added Server Preferences window and config-file port
  • Added Cycles Diffuse BSDF conversion
  • Added Octane Standalone filename templates
  • Clearer render status: what the Server is loading and doing, scene statistics stay on screen
  • Faster viewport and animation renders (no full-scene release between frames, fewer round-trips)
  • Grey/Alpha images now default to Non-Color
FIXES SINCE LAST RELEASE
  • Fixed the ortho camera export
  • Fixed perspective correction and banked camera roll
  • Fixed lost viewport edits, and re-upload after a Server restart
  • Fixed Blender 5.2 node tree errors and the Cryptomatte mask picker
  • Minor Bug fixes

Bug Reports

For faster troubleshooting, please provide as much information as possible. Please include:
  • Your Hardware specifications (unless they are included in your signature)
  • A clear description of the issue you have found
  • Steps that you took to trigger this bug, so that we can reproduce it (ideally, please also provide screenshots)
  • If possible, Blend files for direct testing would also be appreciated
  • Whenever possible, please confirm that this issue is only happening in the plugin, and not also in the Standalone Edition (if the bug occurs in both, it is likely that this issue should be reported in the OctaneRender Standalone section of the Forums).
If you are unable to share a copy of the affected scene, please try running Blender in debug mode and send us the logs instead.
  • Open the directory of the Blender executable file.
  • Double-click the blender_debug_log.cmd file to open it.
  • This will launch Blender in debug mode and automatically start capturing logs.
  • Reproduce the issue you are experiencing in Blender.
  • Once you have finished reproducing the issue, close Blender.
  • Blender will open a folder containing error log files.
  • You can then send us the blender_debug_log.txt file to help us diagnose the issue.

You can get more information about the debug command at https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/troubleshooting/crash.html.
