saved assembly issue
Moderator: face_off
hi - I am trying to save an assembly in modo 15.1v2 - I am selecting all needed elements and hitting save assembly preset. It saves, but when I open it and select an octane override node in the materials, it takes me to the assemblies space and dumps all material nodes for every material into it, making it impossible to edit. if I go to the workspace, its empty except for 2 random nodes. I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. thank you
Hi
It looks from the screenshot like you are saving a bunch of different types of Modo items to the preset (ie. meshes, replicators, etc), so I think it's working as expected.

yes - I have mesh presets with materials/octane overrides, and then I am feeding those into a replicator and trying to save all of it as an assembly. this seems likely a modo problem, but whatever the case, if I make an assembly with mesh presets and their corresponding overrides, is it possible to have the material/override show up in the shader tree correctly? (meaning when I open the material and select the override it takes me to that specific workspace) saving mesh presets with overrides works great, but making assemblies with them seems to be a problem.
Try to open groups tab, remove all items from material assembly, select material override and press Edit in Schematic to rebuild assemblyjwfvr wrote:yes - I have mesh presets with materials/octane overrides, and then I am feeding those into a replicator and trying to save all of it as an assembly. this seems likely a modo problem, but whatever the case, if I make an assembly with mesh presets and their corresponding overrides, is it possible to have the material/override show up in the shader tree correctly? If you want help with this, please describe each each step are taking and provide screens, so we can see what is happening.jwfvr wrote:thank you - that is getting me closer I think - I must be doing something wrong - when I remove all items and hit edit in schematic, a workspace appears but its empty.
Thanks
