Here comes the new test release beta 2.49 introducing the new offline mode and more possibilities with direct lighting kernel.
Any feedback is very welcome and much appreciated. Since this version is a test release it should not be used for production work. Scenes stored in this version may not load in beta 2.46b.
This release was built with CUDA 4.0, which means that you should install the latest graphics driver (http://www.nvidia.com/page/drivers.html).
For Linux and Mac OS you also need to install the CUDA Toolkit 4.0 (http://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-toolkit-40).
For Mac OS you also need the latest CUDA 4.0 driver (http://www.nvidia.com/object/mac-driver-archive.html).
New features:
- Offline mode: To be able to use OctaneRender offline, you need to launch OctaneRender at least once with the Internet connected and OctaneLive accessible. After that, a broken Internet connection still allows you to work with OctaneRender. From now on, every time you switch the version of OctaneRender, Octane needs to connect to OctaneLive again.
- New GI modes were added to the direct lighting kernel, which are explained here: http://refractivesoftware.com/forum/vie ... =33&t=7522
- Opacity is taken into account in ambient occlusion, too
- Improved noise reduction in PMC kernel
- Improved alpha channel behaviour in PMC kernel
- Reactivated rulers and the ruler state is now stored in the project
- Reactivated sub-sampling
- Fixed crash when you select a mesh node, on the command line but don't specify a relink file name
- Fixed connection issues to render target node
- Worked around refresh issues of the viewport on Windows and MacOS
- Turntable animation is not working yet
- Daylight animation is not working yet
