I think I have tried pretty much everthing in my hopes getting Octane up and running again.

I uninstalled Octane and installed CUDA drivers again. Then I reinstalled the Octane 1.24 CUDA 3.2 beta.

I tried to load an simple box .obj from Wings3D, but Octane still crashes when I hit the node to make it render.

Tweaking the .obj importer makes no difference - Octane still crashes when I try to make Octane render the imported .obj box.

Anyone have any pointers to what I might try?

cheers,
boom
The simplest test you can do is to create a new project, add a diffuse material node and select that node. If Octane then crashes it's very likely a driver problem. Which Mac OS version do you have? Which CUDA driver did you install and which CUDA toolkit?

i think that the problem comes from the 10.6.8 that has new drivers
i work with octane under 10.6.7 with no issue ;)
probably the upcoming octane 1.48 version with cuda 4 support could fix the problem
chack this free software:

just an idea, you can try to install the 1.47test version that is build with cuda 4, but you must uninstall cuda 3.2 first

about the gpu-app, in my opinion can be useful for disabling the nvidia card for the system so octane can use it completely
i can't try it myself, my mbp is much older than yours and has an ati inside :(
