Hello. I got this issue from world creator and they told me to ask here as well, if there is any clamping operation behind the scenes when i import a texture for displacement.
I got heavy banding in 8bit (expected) but still minor banding in 32bit. Any thoughts? If u need image to check let me know to send u in a pm.
Thanks

So after few tests on other engines and talking with WC devs, problem seems to be octane (or me).
Here is a scene with wc project/32bit tiff/c4d project to give it a look.

Hi Thanulee,
In your image texture node, you have Channel Format set to half (16bit) instead of float (32bit). Update this, and you should get rid of the banding.

That's a different float. Yes I am on 3.08, not sure about 3.07

Looks like 32bit support in displacement is new in 3.08

Can you output 16bit from world creator or, I wonder if you can change your image to 16bit in photoshop and achieve acceptable results.
