Hi all,
This is probably a simple question for you more experienced users. I'm trying to dial in a material for a video display that would cast some illumination into an environment even if all other light sources were off. I can't seem to figure it out. I have a diffuse material with a texture map, but when I connect any type of emitter to it, the entire surface becomes luminous and I loose the display image. I've tried putting a separate surface emitter behind the surface and play with transmission and transparency, but the image gets washed out and dull, not the bright vivid display I'm going for. I've got to move on to another part of the project, hopefully on you guru's can lead me down the right path. Thanks!
Material formula for a video display?

Hi,
Try this:
Make Diffuse material.
Add Texture Emission and connect it to Diffuse material.
Add your navigator texture image and connect it to Efficiency tab of the Emission node.
Play with Emission node power setting to get the right look.
