Hey there,
i need to render ies lights. I got Eulumdat and IES Files. The Eulumdat Files render wrong both in Octane and Modo. The IES light is much softer in Octane. Is there a way to make this match the Modo render?
1. Octane IES
2. IES in OpenGL
3. IES in Modo Render
4. Eulumdat in Modo Render
Thanks in Advance!

I suspect the IES light is rendering in a truer, more realistic fashion than Modo, so I doubt you could tweak the Octane IES lights to render in a harder fashion (unless you tweak the IES file).

Are you able to send me the .LXO and .IES file pls - and I will take a closer look to see if something can be done.

Thank you for the quick reply!
I made a test scene:
The first Photometric Light is created with no modifications (The result is very soft and only lighting up)
The second Photometric Light is scaled to 1% (The result is a little sharper but again only lighting in one direction)
In Additon I made a small sphere (The result is sharp and is looking like the modo photometric light)
I also noticed that the Modo Photometric light has a width and a height, which also changes the softness. Maybe this has to be taken in account when an octane Light is created.
Thanks again for your great work and the perfect support!

I also loaded the file in IES Viewer. This is how it looks there:

I also found out that for Maxwell Render it is recommended to use a little sphere as emitter:http://support.nextlimit.com/display/mx ... S+emitters
I will look into this in the next few days.
