=============================================
RELEASE 3.04.3.0
=============================================
* NEW PLUGIN FEATURES:
- New builds to support the OctaneVR Subscription licensing.
* NEW OCTANE FEATURES:
- Improved colour shadow pass for specular materials with "fake shadows" enabled.
- Extended the value range of the "max. samples" pins of the various kernel nodes to 1 .. 1,000,000
- Reduced/fixed self-shadow artifacts at the terminator of point-like lights on objects with very strong and fine bump maps.
* OCTANE BUGS FIXED:
- Fixed bump and normal mapping on displacement triangles.
- Fixed broken light passes.
- Fixed potential deadlock if the render threads are still rendering during shutdown.
- If a displacement triangle can't be created (due to missing UVs or invalid height), a normal triangle is created during geometry compilation.
- Fixed render portals.
- Fixed a geometry compile crash by filtering out meshes that have polygons but no vertices.
- Volume emitters are now included in the emitter pass and light passes.
- Fixed broken smooth flag in mix materials, i.e. if all children of a mix material have the smooth option disabled, the mix material will be rendered non-smooth, too.
Thanks,
-Juanjo

Hi,
Could the documents please be updated to give a detailed description on the use of the environment medium on how to create atmospheric type rendering.
If there is a resource where this is explained that would suffice, would be grateful for some detailed documentation on the topic.
All the best,
-T

Hi,
While updating the plugin docs, you have the description of all the new Octane 3 features in the this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=33&t=51679
Configure the environment medium is fairly easy. Usually the only trick is to be aware about the scene scale to set the medium radios. Anyway I'll build a sample scene to show how it works in Houdini.
Thanks,
-Juanjo

Hello,
I've installed the demo of octane for Houdini. I'm running Houdini indie. The demo of the plugin works but i have to say not very well. it crashes a lot. I'm wondering if the demo version is more prone to crashing than the paid version. Can i expect better performance if i purchase a license?
Thank you

Would very much appreciate an example file for use of the atmospheric medium in Houdini. Where would I be able to find the example? In the docs?
Thanks so much juanjgon,

Hi,
Attached you have a sample scene using the environment medium. As you can see it is only a matter of play with the medium settings.
Hope this helps,
-Juanjo
