Hi everybody
In the Octane 2.25 I was very happy with using the Directlightning kernel / GI_SAMPLE_AMBIENT to render the scenes containing many transparency objects. This setting works very fast providing great results. (img No 1.)
The Pathracing setting is not bad but took much longer time and the transparency isn't so good as with the previous one. (img No1.)
And the point is - after upgrading to V3,03-R1 the SAMPLE_AMBIENT doesn't works with such transparency at all. Why is that or would you know how can I achieve the similar results with some different setting.?
Thanks a lot for advice

Hi Dan,
try with DL AO and set the AO distance to the minimum value, you should have the same result as v2,

Hi Nutrend,
please, switch from Sample Ambient to Ambient Occlusion and then reduce at minimum the AO distance value, otherwise the parameter has no effect.

I missed to remove two deprecated options fron GI modes. It will not be available on 3.04 builds. You'll be able to get same results with ao_distance=0.

Hi Dan,
in the latest version there is a new option in the Environment node called "AO environment texture", you could try with a white color in it.

Go with 3.04.3. You can set ao_distance to ZERO and note that some GI modes deprecated. You need to tweak this for old scenes.Nutrend wrote:I'm back again. A problem is the AO distance value can be set 0,01 only. Zero isn't allowed. The result is same at the sample ambient even at ambient occlusison. Please do you have any other idea?
