Hey everone,
while im using custom builds of blender more often than the official blender build im not interested in using an octane-integrated blenderversion.
But, it seems that the plugin/addon-development of the octane-exporter has stopped (because of the integrated version i think).
So, the only chance for custombuild-users to have animated smoke/fire/volume-things in octane 3 is to program an own exporter?
Would be great to have informations about that.
Thank you all!

Kudos to that question.
I´m using Standalone Octane Render + Blender and the exporter is way to old. The Solution for now (At least to me) is to export in pure Obj. Is there any better method than that besides using the integration?

You can use the old plugin completely and can setup all materials in octane standalone.
Changes will be there also, when you add changes to you scene.
Im just missing OpenVDB export with that exporter- and fire/smoke-presets in octane 3+
