If I change the gamma to anything different than 1 in the camera settings, the alpha is not rendering

The only way to get the alpha channel is setting gamma value in the camera as 1.

Am i doing something wrong? any help?

We use 2.16 at gamma 2.2 (linear) and have no problems with alpha.

best,

Hi,

This sounds like it is to do with the 2.16's update to how gamma is handled. You can find out more from JimStar's explanation provided in the 2.16 release post here: viewtopic.php?f=80&t=52130

Please let me know if this clarifies your situation. If it does not, we can look further into things from there.

Cheers,
Azen

Thank you Azen and Olitech.

Actually if I work in linear with gamma 2.2.2 And use tone mapping disabled, it works fine.

The issue is when I want to actually use tone mapping and for example set gamma in 1.1 or anything different from 1. Then the output has no alpha.

I didn't try disabling gamma from 3dsmax settings, maybe that could work?

Sorry I can't try it now. I don't have my computer

Hi,

I'll be looking forward to hearing back from you about the outcome of your test. If this doesn't work for you, I could take a look into you scene directly if you like, and come up with a clearer, more definite solution.

Cheers,
Azen
