Hello guys,
I bought a lenovo thinkpad yoga 12 , since the use we have to do is fine by me .
I wondered , however , whether it will be possible to have an external GPU with which maybe able to use octane .
If so, how should I do ?

if You would remove wireless module (& get USB stick for that functionality)
You could use something like this, but with different interface
However this way would force You to modify Your metal case..
..& there is always slight chance that it would not work in the end.

so if I were You, I'd probably wait till V3 is going to work on CPUs..
..otherwise simply different beast for mobile work would fit better.

..this is very simmilar option, but as You see USB cable is used only to conect mPCIe with PCIe.

as far as I know, GPUs don't work so well via USB (if You conect to where You typically place flash/mouse, etc..)
- but this field always evelve & there migh be a solution..try do a bit of research =)

if You wanted as simple as possible plug and play solution different laptop would fit better (as there are gaming oriented rigs that have inbuild proprietary conectors from companies like Alienware, MSI, etc.)

if You don't like bulky looks & want something small You can alwasy choose something with 9x0M (or even older) mobile GPU that supports CUDA - the way to go now, but later versions of Octane will bring support for CPUs & other GPUs aswell.

in Your case, as offerend one of the best deal woud be to get a mentioned kit with mPCIe conector, relocate Your wifi module (from mPCIe to USB - simplyu get cheap dongle) & conect Your GPU into mPCIe.

Would it work 50/50 (do Your homework before or simply get the kit & try out for Yourself). So there are solutions - You just need to spend Your time (or more money before making a decision to get laptop).

P.S. if You're looking for something to cary, get small liek SFX(L) brick with fully modular cables =) even make some DIY housing - it will take less space. Drop a line if You need more info & we'll try to help You out =)
