Nice, looks smiliar to Octane.
Every Mesh is exported.
Mesh SRT and topology changes, re-ex/import the mesh.
Camera changes are submitted directly.

Not realy usefull for SRT animations.
I would export only a 4x4 Matrix for SRT and let the renderer make the work.
I want a direct connection via tcp or ever for Octane ;)

what's a SRT?

The fact that it renders inside the major 3d apps via plugins is a big plus...

Scaling Rotation Translation...
You can put that in a 4x4 matrix.
+The data is realy small, usefull on large meshes. Before you export 1mio tris, you export a matrix, 16xsize of a float variable.
+On a GPU it is faster to calculate

Yes, I agree with all that. As I said before, at the moment our focus is on making the core doing that, what it should do. When the essential features are done, we will look into workflow, speed and integration. Although not as sexy as a render engine, these are all non-trivial things and need to be designed/planned with the future development in mind. I can only assure you, that I want to see an efficient and tight integration with 3D apps, like you do ;)

Before we start working in that area, I will contact the plugin developers and then we have to see what possibilities we have and what the best approach is.

And always please keep in mind, that the first release candidate of Maxwell Render was released 2005. Time matters here.

Cheers,
Marcus

Imo it's a CPU based preview renderer, I wonder why they did'nt go the GPU route.

Maybe because they don´t want the polylimit.
But for that it gives a solutions to use the other ram, posted from GK anywhere here...

The only limitation for now about polygons it's a lack of geometry instance support in Octane.. this is something that will differ the Octane from other GPU based render engines a lot..
The good news is that this is planned future, and I hope it will be implemented soon... v6, v7...
